The Holy Grail Guitar Show 2014. November 15th and 16th, 2014

More than 110 of the world’s premier guitar makers will meet this fall in Berlin for the first edition of The Holy Grail Guitar Show. This event will showcase the best of the current boutique guitar building scene.

BY LUTHIERS FOR LUTHIERS: A first in Europe, this show was conceived and is organized by a group of luthiers who felt the need for a show presenting and promoting the handmade guitar. It is a grass-roots effort shepherded by the EGB, the European Guitar Builders Association, a community of the small guitar builders from all across Europe.

MEET THE LUTHIER: A stunning selection of electric guitars, acoustic guitars, archtops, classical guitars and basses, from the most avant-garde to the traditional, will be exhibited here in one location by the luthiers who created them. This will be the place where you can meet the makers and experience firsthand the extraordinary work being done today in the field of lutherie. Each exhibiting luthier will be present at the show personally.

FOCUS ON THE GUITAR: The hand made guitar has emerged as a strong alternative to the factory made instruments widely available. The ability to tailor the instrument to a client’s wishes, with woods, features and tonal character individually chosen, and the great quality of work done today, has earned the custom boutique guitar a place in any serious player’s arsenal of instruments. The range presented at The Holy Grail Guitar Show ranges from expensive and exclusive instruments by today’s foremost builders, to rugged working musician’s tools, designed for daily use on the stage or on the road. Spanning the gamut from historically inspired and classically constructed guitars to fanciful inventions embracing new technologies and approaches by the adventurous among the luthiers, the show promises to yield something for even the most discerning visitor.

A GAME-CHANGING SHOW: With a strong international presence, this show promises to become one of the major yearly events for guitar lovers from all over the globe - a rare opportunity to see so many great and exciting instruments assembled in one place. The guitars will be available for try-out, and for sale also. Sound booths equipped with amplifiers will be available for testing the instruments. In addition to the exhibit a series of demo concerts will run during the show, featuring the instruments exhibited at the show, plus a program of lectures and seminars by well-known luthiers, covering topics of interest to guitar lovers.

THEN WE TAKE BERLIN: We chose Berlin as the show location for its good international accessibility, moderate pricing and the attractions it offers the visitor as one of the prime cultural capitals of Europe.

THE ESTREL: A modern Hotel and Convention Center, the Estrel venue offers all the amenities necessary to make the visit a peasant one, such a varied selection of restaurants and bars for those wanting to spend the day or weekend at the show. Rooms are also available for those who want to stay overnight.

Bass Professor 2/2021, AUsgabe 105. WORKSHOP Praxistipp – Bass Setups, Folge 4: Halsschrauben (rabenberger guitars & bass
